Production of sulfur concrete

One of the prospective and significant fields of the use of sulfur is production of sulfur polymer binder (SPB).

We developed a technology of production of sulfur polymer binder, in accordance to which heavy residual oil and sulfur in the ratio of 5/95 by mass are affected by the electromagnetic field.

Sulfur polymer binder can be used for different purposes, in particular as a heat insulator (foam sulfur) for preparation of sulfur hydrophobic solutions, for preservation of wood materials and so on.

Of the most interest is the use of SPB for production of sulfur concrete. Produced on the basis of SPB, sulfur concrete favorably differs from standard concrete based on portland cement by better durability, water resistance, resistance to aggressive environments, thermal plasticity, possibility of forming at low temperatures and lesser cost. At production of sulfur concrete, screening of crushing of rock or soft rock can be used as aggregates.

One of the advantages at production of sulfur concrete in comparison to standard concrete is no necessity to use water.

Tests of sulfur concrete produced according to this technology are specified in the Application.

Assessment of the sulfur asphalt concrete market in the South Federal District shows that even if 2-3% of standard concrete produced in the region on a yearly basis is replaced by sulfur concrete, it is possible to use up to 1 million tons of sulfur per year.

Sulfur polymer binder and sulfur asphaltic oil binder are produced on one technological line depending on the market needs (see the scheme).

For sulfur products TORs are developed, all the necessary safety and quality certificates are in place.
